Compare the MOTU Origins x ThunderCats Skell-Ra figure with a standard Skeletor. See what makes this crossover unique and who it's best for.
Quick answer
If you want a unique crossover piece that blends Skeletor's look with Mumm-Ra's flair, the MOTU Origins Skell-Ra is a worthy pickup. But if you prefer the classic Skeletor design or are on a budget, a standard figure may serve you better.
What makes Skell-Ra different
The Skell-Ra figure is a mashup of two iconic '80s villains: Skeletor from Masters of the Universe and Mumm-Ra from ThunderCats. The design merges Skeletor's skeletal face with Mumm-Ra's mummy-inspired details, so it's not just a simple repaint. It includes two swappable heads, a reversible purple/red cape, and swappable harness and skirt armor pieces, giving you more display options than a standard Skeletor.
The 5.5-inch scale matches the Origins line, so it fits with other Masters of the Universe Origins figures. But the crossover theme means it may not be a perfect match for collectors who want a pure, classic Skeletor representation.
Price and value trade-off
At a catalog price of USD 21.30 (compared to USD 30.00), the Skell-Ra figure is priced competitively, especially given the extra accessories. However, it's still a crossover item, so if you're not into ThunderCats, the extra cost may not be worth it compared to a standard Skeletor figure that often retails for less.
Consider your budget and how much you value the crossover theme. If you're a fan of both franchises, the extra accessories and unique design justify the price. If you're just looking for a classic Skeletor, you might save money with a standard version.
Skell-Ra vs Skeletor: Trade-offs
- Design: Skell-Ra blends Skeletor and Mumm-Ra elements, so it's not a classic Skeletor. If you want a pure Skeletor look, a standard figure is better.
- Accessories: Skell-Ra includes swappable heads, cape, and armor pieces, offering more customization than a standard Skeletor. If you like display options, this is a plus. Check if the extra accessories are worth the price to you.
- Price: Skell-Ra is priced at USD 21.30, which is lower than its comparison price of USD 30.00. But it may still cost more than a standard Skeletor. If budget is tight, a standard figure could be cheaper. Set your budget before comparing.
